iPad app for Crestron home automation system

Apple iPad has got a number applications ready before it actually lands on the shelves. One of them is the Crestron Home Automation application for the iPad, which allows you to use the iPad to remotely control various household appliances and gadgets including lights, temperatures, media and even open and shut the curtains.

The Crestron app turns your iPad into a full touch panel to control a range functions around your home. It works similarly to Crestron’s iPhone app. To have the iPad Crestron Home Automation App to do what were mentioned, you’ll need additional hardware. This additional hardware could be very costly.

iPhone 4G is rumored to include front-facing camera for video calls

Rumors claim that the iPhone 4G would hit the stores sometime in summer. Bit by bit of its features are also surfacing over the Internet and the latest we have here is the iPhone 4G likely to include a front-facing camera that makes it useful for video calls and shooting of your self-portrait shots.

The rumor was based on the newly revealed Apple patent application, entitled “Apparatus and Method for Compensating for Variations in Digital Cameras,”, which discusses the quality of the camera modules found in current iPhone or iPod models and with details on how to improve those cameras in future models. …..Click here to read more

iPhone app scientifically proves you wrong (or right) on climate skeptic arguments

Many people these days simply put blames on certain heavy industries, scientists or researchers over climate change or global warming without any scientific proofs. Thanks to the Australian solar physicist John Cook of Skeptical Science, who has created a little nifty iPhone app that lets you stay more aware of what claims or arguments on climate change are right or wrong. And it also includes scientific counterarguments to those misinformed climate skeptic arguments.

Once the Skeptical Science iPhone app launches on your iPhone screen, it shows you 10 of the most common misinformed climate skeptic arguments as well as showing the scientific counterarguments to them. The arguments are also categorized into three main categories, which are “It’s not happening“, “It’s not us“, and “It’s not bad”, to help you find more claims and the scientific counterarguments more easily.

HP V1020h HD pocket camcorder

HP V1020h is a pocket camcorder capable of shooting 720p HD video and comes in highly affordable price of $109 only. The V1020h camcorder has a memory card slot that reads and stores recorded video onto a SDHC memory card.

The HP V1020h also offers USB connection and HDMI port, allowing the user to upload the clips to computer and connect to HDTV for viewing media at native resolution. The HP V1020h has built-in memory of 128MB only and it’ll be available sometime this summer. Not much info about the actual specs but the low price definitely makes it a great deal.

But we’ve now stepped into the USB 3.0 era when you need much higher speeds of data transfer, so it’s time to start eyeing for some USB 3.0 HDD docks in order to enjoy the 5Gbps of data transfer speeds. Here comes the Sharkon USB 3.0 SATA HDD dock that offers dual-drive docking which has two slots to fit for 2.5 and 3.5-inch SATA hard drives.

Each slot has its own power on/off switch, LED indicator, and there is an eject button for each which allows the ease of drive removal. This dual-drive docking station uses separate USB 3.0 interface for each drive, which should ensure more dedicated power and bandwidth for each drive.

Toshiba has developed a new pair of headphones that come equipped with brain wave sensor

Toshiba has developed a new set of headphones that come equipped with a brain wave sensor for consumer use. These headphones allow the registration of the user’s brain waves. The Stereo Bluetooth support, you can link to it with a Bluetooth-enabled computer to transfer via brain waves recorded by the user for further analysis.

Toshiba headphones are included with the brain wave Visualizer software that can be installed on a computer to analyze the user’s brain waves. When you are shown the diagrams and gauge the level of brain waves, the concentration level and the level of meditation. This also allows to verify and record the user’s brain waves in real time, while he or she is listening to music or watching video.

3D TV are cool, but also lets you watch your movies or the most exciting sports in 3D mode. But not all movies, or video display is in 3D mode. It is definitely an advantage if your TV 3D program could automatically covert 2D or 3D film. Samsung has brought good news, which will include the car from 2D to 3D conversion technology in all its 3D LED LCD televisions sold in 2010.

Samsung is able to include the car from 2D to 3D conversion technology in the widest range of television is due to DDD has restructured its license agreement, which reduces the royalty paid per unit each for Samsung 3D TV equipped with TriDef DDD 3D technology. DDD also expects to receive royalty income from Samsung in the range of $ 1.1 million – $ 1.5 million during 2010.
