Magnetic Tape

Fujifilm and IBM develop magnetic tape that can store up to 35 TB

Fujifilm and IBM have teamed up to develop a magnetic tape can store up to 35 TB of uncompressed digital data, the amount that is 44 times greater than what was previously possible.

It’s been several years of research and one of the success factors that have successfully developed a magnetic tape based on barium ferrite (BAFE) particles. To increase storage capacity, the size of the particles must be reduced. However, smaller particles usually result weaker magnetism.

The two companies successfully overcome by the particles to have developed that is one third the size of conventional metal magnetic substances, but still maintain a high magnetism. Once a 35TB tape is commercially available, it is best used to back up today growing amount of data in a cheaper way.

ioSafe

ioSafe SOLO SSD emphasizes a lot on its protection to your data

portable hard drive

ioSafe SSD ONLY much emphasis on their protection to your data. It is a SSD aimed at protecting their data in the worst case scenarios, such as house fires or floods. The unit is actually located in a military-grade steel case, called ArmorPlate, which protects data against fire, shock, water and even the collapse of two-story building or 5,000 pounds of crushing, etc.

At CES, SSD ioSafe had passed only some evidence of serious abuse. He was hit by a tractor of 35,000 pounds and burned with fire. And, surprisingly, survived all these tests and the unit of the copied photos to correctly read it before testing.

The technical specifications of the SSD only states that can withstand 5,000 pounds of crushing force, a drop of 20 feet to the fire of 1550 degrees F for 30 minutes and 30 meter fixed on the water for several days. The evidence at CES seem very close to what the manufacturer says.

The ioSafe SSD alone ranges from $ 499 for the 64 GB to $ 1,250 for the 256GB model. If you want data to survive much longer than you on earth, you should get an SSD ONLY to the house of your data. Watch the clip below how it tasted.

Machine Gun Ammo USB drive, comes in a super solid body

The USB drive comes in the form of a bullet is not new to us. It’s another bullet shaped USB drive from here, called Machine Gun Ammo USB drive comes in a super solid body, which probably quality as a military grade USB flash drive.

Machine Gun Ammo The USB flash drive can be used in hostile environments because it is cold and heat resistant, shock proof and anti-thanks to the external magnetic metal. Unfortunately, the unit comes in very low storage capacity, 2 GB may not be sufficient for the needs of today. Anyway, the only way to make it an ideal gadget for you to show your friends.

N002 flash drive, support of USB 3.0 connection

More USB 3.0 devices are rolling on the market. 2010 will be a good year for high speed data transfer. A-DATA has recently joined the crowd after announcing the new N002 flash drive that comes with the support of the USB 3.0 connection to offer super high-speed data transfer to and from their computers.

If the team is not ready for connecting USB 3.0, A-DATA N002 Flash drive is also equipped with a SATA II connection and even backward USB 2.0, but you get much slower speeds. Claims A-DATA N002 unit will be ready in January 2010 and will enter into a range of storage capacities including 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The price is still unknown.
