Yotaro, a robotic baby simulator

Yotaro, a robotic baby simulator has been developed by researchers led by Hiroki Kunimura at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. The baby robot simulator has an interactive display that functions as your face. The baby robot can represent a variety of facial expressions, movements and physiological characteristics, like a real baby. Reacts to users through a sophisticated control system emotion that indicates a reaction to accompany users. Besides all the mentioned reactions, the baby robot can even mourn real tears on her face 2-D.

Although this robotic baby is only a research prototype, there should be no surprise that one day the Japanese mass produced. Some Japanese too busy and not have “time” to have babies, so once they get older, most likely need this baby interactive robot to accompany them in life. The Morphius Robot PC case mod

We’ve seen a couple of cool PC case mod made in the shapes of some cool action figures like the Incredible Hulk and the transformer. Now we have a refrigerator that has joined this category – the case of PC Robot Morphius.

The PC case mod Morphius Robot was built by modder Maciel Barreto. Morphius is a war-torn robot that has its guts and wires hanging from metal body. This robot PC case mod comes with fine details Morphius robot, which took months to build modder.

Every detail of the body was hand carved in clay, before being produced in a silicon mold. The final cover was created from fiberglass and resin and finished with car paint.

A cute robot with good communication and mobility called ROPID

ROPID is another Japanese robot, that has been added with more cute elements, good communication skills and mobility. The ROPID was developed by Tomotaka Takahashi of Robo Garage at Kyoto University, is tiny in size, and able to respond to voice commands and speak with its mouth moving to present its cuteness.

Besides communications, ROPID is also able to walk, run and jump more rapidly than any other similarly constructed robots. The actual size of the ROPID is apparently shown in the picture below.

Prosthetic Hand has feelings

A prosthetic hand called smart hand is being developed by researchers in Italy and Sweden, which allows the patients to have feelings in the fingertips.

The smart hand was tested on some patient, where it had four motors and forty sensors linked directly to the brain. They had surgery to have the patients’ nerve endings linked up to receptors in the prosthetic hand, enabling the patients to have feelings in figertips of the hand, even though it is not really part of the body.
