Smartphones are quickly becoming the most coveted devices for consumers these days. They browse the Web, check email, play videos and use thousands of apps to expand functionality. Here are the top selling smartphones currently on the market for those looking to buy.

iPhone

The iPhone is now the epitome of what a smartphone should be in many consumers eyes, and for good reason. The iPhone was the first major smartphone to show that content is as important as functionality.

The most recent iPhone has some good hardware: 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, 32 GB of storage, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 3-megapixel camera. But it’s the content users can get through Apple’s App Store that really makes the iPhone functional.

The Apple App Store is famous for offering hundreds of thousands of iPhone apps, many for free, that allow users to track their health, paint on their phones, play games, and much more. Cost: $299

Motorola DROID

Motorola has struggled to make popular phones, especially smartphones, for several years, which only made the DROID a more surprising success when it debuted. The Motorola DROID eschews the sleek and curved design aesthetic of its competitor, the iPhone, and instead has a boxy and robotic look to accompany its name.

Despite its appearance, this phone is anything but rough around the edges. The DROID’s screen is large, 3.7-inches, and has a much higher resolution, 440 x 854 pixels, than most other smartphones. This makes text and images on the DROID especially crisp and appealing. The DROID also includes 16GB of storage, GPS, Bluetooth, an Internet browser, Wi-Fi antenna and 5-megapixel camera.

The biggest difference in the Motorola DROID is the operating system. The DROID uses Android 2.0, a mobile operating system made by Google. This makes the phone very customizable in comparison to the relatively locked-down nature of the iPhone OS. It also makes the DROID capable of using apps. The Android Market has many of the same kinds of apps found on the iPhone, although there aren’t nearly as many to choose from. Cost: $200

Palm Pre

The Palm Pre was the darling of the Consumer Electronics Show in 2009. Even when it actually hit shelves months later, it still elicited excitement because of its unique design and brand new operating system.

The Palm Pre is the only smartphone on this list to use the portrait slider format, meaning it slides up instead of to the side when holding it like a phone. The full QWERTY keyboard on the bottom part of the slider is especially useful for those who send a lot of text messages or email.

The Palm Pre has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 8 GB of storage, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a 3-megapixel camera and an Internet browser.

The Palm Pre runs a relatively new operating system called WebOS. It uses a special “card” system to display open apps and features, allowing a user to cycle through them easily and switch back and forth between apps. The Droid doesn’t multitask nearly as well, and the iPhone can’t multitask at all. The downside is that WebOS is not widely used in phones and so hasn’t received the same kind of support from app developers. Cost: $150

That is all of the top selling smartphones, now you can decide what type you want to buy. Happy Shopping.

Bose, Altec Lansing, Logitech, and all the other high-quality iPhone Docking speakers manufacturers better watch out; there’s competition in town, and this one doesn’t even need power to impress. The Phonofone III ($195 CAD) looks like a gramophone from the future. Just like the smaller, less elegant-looking Bone Horn Stand ($25), the Phonofone amplifies the volume emitted from your iPhone’s internal speaker without any electronics.

Though the Bone Horn only magnifies the sound to 13 decibels, the Phonofone III amplifies the speaker roughly 4x, or about 60 decibels. And, unlike the Bone Horn’s silicone body, the Phonofone is handmade from ceramic. If you think it looks heavy, you’re wrong; the Phonofone weighs only 1.75 lbs.

This is the third model in the Phonofone series from Canadian designers Science and Sons. According to TreeHugger.com, the first Phonophone was released three years ago. It had a larger body and an even heftier price of $875. You can see the Phonofone I and Phonofone II at Scienceandsons.com.

This is the first batch to be released, and there are only 50 pieces to be sold at the moment. If you’d like a Phonofone by Christmas, make sure to get your order in before December 5.

Some may think it’s too much to spend on a 230 (with shipping) iPhone Docking Speakers that has no other features besides making your music louder. For example, for about the same price you can get the Altec Lansing Mix iMT800 iPod dock for $199 down from its $299.95 list price at Amazon. This is a PCMag Editors’ Choice due to its tremendous power, built-in subwoofer, user-adjustable EQ, two aux inputs and cable for additional MP3 players, and its FM tuner.

This is Huey the chameleon, and he is a lamp that has the power of changing colors. There is a video of this after the jump to show Huey in action, and I was surprised at how quickly he can change color.

I believe that Huey works by having multiple LEDs of different colors mixing together to form the precise color needed. That color will be whatever Huey detects on his optical sensor, located just below his belly. According to my Source, Huey will cycle through the various colors in his spectrum if left alone, and he can be “locked” in a specific color if squeezed.

I believe that their latest animated feature Tangled has a chameleon named Pascal in it. This would have made the ideal movie merchandise/toy. As it is, you should be able to purchase Huey the Color Copying Chameleon Lamp for about $29.99 from our friends at ThinkGeek.

Ideas For Decision Cool Xmas Gifts Intended for Your Love

Christmas is probably crucial and probably the most festive occasions during the whole year. It has its own vibe and enthusiasm included with it because during this holiday season, you’re able to spend time and gather around with your family and relatives you haven’t seen in a long time. It is the time when you enjoy meals with the household cheering for the bonds and relationships you’ve made. The most common part of Christmas are the Cool Xmas gifts; you can make your loved ones feel special and warm with the season of cheerfulness and happiness.

If you have ever shopped around to pick out gifts for family and friends, you probably have a concept of how challenging this job can be. You have to have a thought in your mind of what you would choose for a particular person and if it might suit his or her personality and likings. Considering this daunting task, I offers you some tips for finding the Cool Xmas gifts for your loved ones; you can make special choices and unique selections this Christmas that will make people feel happy and delighted.

First, and the most foremost thing, you must always plan ahead of time. Give yourself plenty of time for gift shopping. It is very important pace yourself when buying gifts since you need to ensure that your gift will be liked by the relative or any of the buddies you’re giving it to. Don’t just decide on any old thing. It would be disastrous if you were to make an wrong choice.

You should discover the persons interests, likes and dislikes. Regardless of the age and gender the person is, you should know of the items that individual admires and would like to have. If the person likes dogs for example, you should buy stuffed dog toys as an appropriate gift. Always buy something, which the receiver would love and appreciate, not something you like and need to give.

Do not get sucked into buying stereo typical gifts. As an example; buying women perfume and men fishing gear, not all women like perfume and never all men like fishing. That is why it is very important know the likes and dislikes of anyone you’re gift shopping for.

That should be asked the person yourself if you don’t know or are unable to decide. You can ask him/her in rather indirect manner without him/her figuring out what you’re up to whereas it is possible to consider what he/she wish to have like a Christmas present. This should aid you a lot while selecting a Cool Xmas gift for the loved one.

Lastly, you should buy something that comes within your budget and cost as well. It is easier to get a Cool Xmas gift when you know how much you are willing to pay for it. Determining a price range would help in lots of ways because then the shop assistants can easily point you to definitely a suitable choice of gifts.
